Fall is here but don't say goodbye to your summer tan just yet!

The leaves are falling, temperature is dropping, and your tan is starting to fade. But wait... there's no need to pull out your lighter foundation shade. At Adorn Salon we are offering NUDA Custom Airbrush Spray Tans to keep your tan looking nice and bronzed all year long. We offer single spray tans and also a monthly membership depending on how often you want to be sprayed.

The NUDA Custom Airbrush Spray Tan solutions are just as the name says... Custom. Our spray tan artists take the time to get to know you to select the perfect shade that you are wanting to achieve. We offer two different solutions. The Rapid Tanning Solution has a quicker development period (1-5 hours) and is perfect for those who need to shower sooner and don’t want to sleep in their tan. The longer you leave this solution on, the darker it will develop. The Regular Tanning Solution has an 8-12 hour development period, but can be left on past the 12 hour mark for a darker result! They are SUPER customizable because of their specific undertones and DHA levels, and can be mixed together to create your perfect shade!

We always get asked when is the best time to get a spray tan? Is there ever a bad time?? In all seriousness, we recommend getting your spray tan 2 days before your event if you are getting sprayed for a special occasion. If you are just wanting to maintain your tan all year round, then just be aware of how development times play a role in when your tan will look its best. Getting a tan 2 days before will allow for the most optimal result as the tan will continue to develop, even after the initial development period. This is especially important for Brides, or those wearing lighter colors, at your wedding or event. You need to let your tan develop and then make sure that you have the time to shower off the residual tan to prevent transfer onto your clothing.

The second most common question we get asked is how do I prepare for my tan and how do I care for it to make it last longer? We always send out spray tan prep guides to all of our new spray tan clients so they will know exactly how to prepare. Here are a few of our favorite tips:

The week of your appointment:

  • Moisturize and exfoliate the skin for 3-5 days leading up to your tan.

  • Shave, wax, and exfoliate the skin at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Exfoliation is the MOST important step to ensure you receive an optimal result that will last up to 10 days.

  • Pay attention to rough areas like feet, ankles, elbows, armpits, knuckles, collarbones, etc.

 The day of your appointment:

  • Take a shower at least 3 hours before the appointment.

  • Do NOT use lotion, gel, wax, shaving cream or other oil-based products as they could leave residues on the skin and prevent the solution from developing correctly.

  • Do NOT wear makeup, cream, sunscreen, perfume, or deodorant to your appointment.

The appointment:

  • Upon arrival you and your artist will discuss your preferred tan shade. They will answer any questions that you have and address any concerns.

  • You will undress and put on a robe that we provide. You can get sprayed with or without undergarments - this is your choice.

  • Your artist will help you apply a barrier cream to certain areas to prepare for your tan. You will also be given a hairnet.

  • For your spray you will step into a tent and then our artist will hand spray you. They will position you in a variety of ways in order to achieve the best result.

After care:

  • Avoid contact with liquids or any activities that provoke sweating during the development period.

  • Do NOT apply any cream or makeup on the skin during the development period.

  • If you will be sleeping with the solution on, wear long and loose fitting clothing.

  • Rinse your whole body and face thoroughly until the water is clear. For your first shower we recommend NOT using soap.

  • After your tan, we recommend you put on loose, dark colored clothing.

  • Moisturize the skin daily. Avoid lotions, soap, and body wash containing mineral oils, petroleum and alcohol. These ingredients may lead to faster fading.

  • Excessive sweating, using a jacuzzi or sauna, or taking long hot baths or showers can cause your tan to fade faster.

  • Do NOT wax areas where solution has been applied for the duration of your tan. You may shave sparingly with a fresh, sharp razor.

  • Use gentle facial cleansers, no oil-based or exfoliating products.

  • Do not exfoliate the skin for the duration of the result!

  • When the tan starts to fade, you may exfoliate the skin again in order to remove the residual tan.

  • Don’t forget to take pictures of your tan at your event and send them to us!

And that's it!! Be sure to book your appointment now before you lose too much of your summer tan. We can't wait to help you feel bronzed and beautiful. Visit Appointments | Adorn Salon (square.site) to get on the books!
